Blog 11 - Monday, October 24, 2016

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week - due Friday, October 28, 2016 at 11:59pm

Last week was Digital Citizenship Week.

An important part of my English class is to make you aware of what you post on-line and what it means to be a good digital citizen.  Being a good digital citizen includes:
- being aware of your digital footprints;
- demonstrating safe and respectful online etiquette;
- not cyberbullying, sexting, or posting inappropriate photos and/or videos,
- making important decisions about what to post to social media sites; and,
- not downloading or uploading inappropriate content

For this blog, I would like you to CREATE an important Digital Citizenship message using MEMES!

A meme in a generic message about a behaviour that is passed around on-line.

Using makeameme.org, create a MEME about being a GOOD Digital Citizen.  On the blog site, write an explanation about the meme you've created.  Explain why you've chosen that image? Explain the text on your meme!  How is your meme effective?

On classroom, I want you to submit your meme by copying and pasting it to a Google document and then TURNING it in!

  1. I chose the Jessica Nigri piture. It said: Don't be like her, Be a good digital citizen. I chose this picture because she is posting something that is inappropriate. So she is a bad digital citizen. This is a effective meme because it shows that posting something inappropriate is bad and that it is not a good thing to do.

  2. I chose my meme since i was inspired by a video i saw.... after watching breaking bad. I chose this meme since a lot of american people like to speak bad of other nationalities online but refuse to say anything negative about america. And Americas health care might as well be a scam.

  3. i chose my meme and i said: Created an awesome password, now everything is safe. I chose the picture because i just think that it went well with what i was saying in my meme. I said this because, with any password that you have you aren't safe and people can always hack you no matter how complicated the password is.

    2. I truly agree with that.

  4. I chose my meme because of cyber bullying. I chose this meme because a lot of people are being cyber bullied in Canada and America.I think my meme is effective because it explains how once you delete the conversation its still there. Also the pain will still remain in the person you attack. They will still remember every little thing you said towards them.

    1. I agree , even after the conversation is deleted the people who were bullied would still feel pain.

  5. The meme that I chose is about how easy it is to get your passwords and accounts hacked by people. This meme shows how easy it is to get someone's private information, If they get that they can black mail you for money and other worse things. To try and stay safe on the in internet and not get hacked , try to stay out of being mean to others and don't do stupid things to draw attention to you , because if someone hates you they can do bad things.

  6. I chose my meme because there's a lot of those "click here and make a million dollars!" advertisements on most webpages you go on. In most peoples cases they ignore it and stay away from them because they know that it's a scam, but there are some people out there who don't know and are victims to these traps and end up losing money, and most of the time it's a big sum of it.

  7. The meme that i chose was cyber-bullying. This shows that someone could get hurt over two or three words over the internet. You could stop this by telling them not to say that because that victim could kill them self. Sometimes people don't get into to help the person who got bullied so it's worse people got to step in to help.

  8. I chose this certain meme because many people have different ways to access what you search and what you watch . This means you should be careful of what you do online and what you post because who knows someone might create bad rumors about what you do online. This might also affect your job because they might search you up on google or hire someone hackers to see what you've been doing in your device and whatever.

  9. The meme i chose was cyber bullying, because it is not good. it shows in my meme that nobody has time for cyber bullying. because it shouldn't be happening.

  10. The meme I chose is about cyberbullying, and I chose it because the web was created to connect with people, to inform us about things around the world, to research information, its for our enjoyment and communicating with friends, family and loved ones. However it’s a shame that cybercriminals, hackers and seedy sites have become main stream. For example facebook was created to keep in touch with family and friends and now some people use it to destroy the lives of others by cyberbullying. The image I chose represents that there was once this happy and entertaining creation that has now also become a place where others are often hurt and bullied.

  11. I chose a meme about when you post something inappropriately it will probably affect you later in life when you want to apply for a job. When you go apply for a job most of the time someone will go check for you history on social media apps because when you post something it will always be there. If they see something inappropriately they probably won't hire you even if you took the picture 10 years ago and to me that's not right.

  12. the meme that I chose is about posting the wrong and inappropriate pictures on social media. Some people think that when they post something and then delete it , that its just going to be deleted automatically from the internet but what happens is, is that its always going to be there. So next time before posting the picture think twice.

  13. the meme I chose is a star track character with a confused face asking where did you find that what you search is not invisible the is the morale of my meme.

  14. I chose the picture from the movie Mean Girls. I chose this picture because it is a perfect representation of what I'm trying to show. I find in our generation, a lot of people send inappropriate pictures to other people. And then the person who receives it, screenshots it and can show other people. Once you send a picture of yourself that is possibly inappropriate, you don't know where it can be or go. People can other people and it is just a huge disaster. Just remember that once you send a picture or text to anyone, it can be at an other place in a second. Be cautious of what you post and or send people.

    1. I completely agree once you send a picture it becomes everyone's property and you can't get it back.

    2. Good point, I think some people need to be more aware at how serious the internet can be sometimes.

  15. I chose the photo of a thinking minion for one i thought it was cute and because you need to ask yourself everytime you post on social media would you let your parents see that post

  16. I have chosen a picture of a boy saying to a girl that if she has really seen the pictures he deleted. This means that you have to be careful of what you post online because if it's something you don't want your parents to see you shouldn't post it because although you delete it and you think is deleted, everything you post online stays there forever. Your parents may see it and you would be in huge trouble. Nowadays, i think that a lot of people post whatever they want in social media sites without thinking twice so what i want to tell with this meme is to show to people that before posting anything you have to think twice.

  17. I chose this picture because cyber bullying is such a big problem but nobody wants to get involved. When people see other people getting hated on they either ignore it or laugh because they are afraid of being the next victim.I have seen a lot of people get hate on fb and nobody defends them because they don't think it involves them. One day it might be them though, so they should speak up.

  18. My meme is on cyber bullying. I chose cyber bullying because it happens everyday in our society by kids/teenagers who believe that if you post a mean comment or picture on the internet, it wouldn't count as bullying because it wasn't told to the victim's face . But they are wrong! Bullying and cyber bullying hurts peoples feelings equally , just in different ways . And it has to stop!

  19. The topic that I chose for my meme is not to post anything inappropriate online. This topic is very serious because to be a good digital citizenship you always have to watch what you post. A specially inappropriate content because even if u delete it, it is always there It will never go away forever.

    1. I agree with your topic because it is serious now a days.

  20. The topic that I chose is inappropriate online behaviour. I chose this topic because this is something that is used a lot and what you do or watch online can come back to haunt you. Even if you delete anything people can still find a way to find it and send it to people.

  21. I chose the picture because it shows that someone is surprised at what someone posted, which happens a lot now a days. The text in my meme is " Did they just post what I think the posted?", I chose to write this, because this is a question I ask myself almost everyday. Sometimes I don't understand why people would post such things. I think this meme is effective in a way, as it might make you more aware and careful about what you post. You also have to realize that once you post it, there is no going back, it will be there forever.

  22. For my meme it's a photo of a grandma looking shocked at what she sees online. My message says would you want your grandma to see that... meaning make sure it is approapriate, and you would be okay if a lot of people saw it. Once you post something online it can never be 100% deleted.

  23. The meme I did was on posting/uploading inappropriate content. I chose this theme because I think that it's something that most people underestimate and don't pay enough attention to. I wrote that caption on the mean because I don't think people understand how easy it is for their stuff to be taken into other people's hands. I don't think my meme will be effective what so ever because I don't think anyone takes memes seriously.

  24. the meme that I did is about when ur mom looks at your pictures and you start to panic because there are inappropriate pictures. I chose a picture of a crying woman to show sadness and that it is not good what is on her phone. please do not take or have any innapropriate pictures on your phone or online.

  25. I did a meme where a kid is looking funny a someone to show that nothing can just be taken off the internet. I chose this meme because there are so many people that think that you can just take whatever you what off the internet and it will be gone forever. In the meme, I put You Think Things Can Just Dissapear Off The Internet... Then You Dumb. It is effective because it shows people that once you post something online, it never comes off.

  26. Ok so first off ill just say this, as long as you put in minimum effort to not be dumb then being a digital citizen isnt that hard. Its honestly pretty simple and even easier, like honestly people all you need to do is be kind of smart. All you gotta do is this; Don't hate for no reason, don't ask people for inappropriate photos, don't cyber bully. Its not that hard if you try.
