Why does that topic interest you?
How is it seen in the novel The Chrysalids and in our society today?

I will be doing it on smoking. This topic interest me because smoking is bad and my grandmother use to smoke almost everyday but she quiet 7 years ago. It is seen to the novel because when the people out of the town are deformed and that it's a illness like smoking give you cancer its a illness. So like today smoking is like the Chrysalids you will become ills and you could die.

DeleteMy group and I are doing our project on the subject of bullying. This topic interest me because it happens in our society and I have personally dealt with it. It's unbelievable how many times I have seen bullying and one day I hope it will stop. Bullying is seen in the novel "The Chrysalids often. For example, Joseph Storm and many like him have the same views of the definition of man. They bully people who they believe isn't perfect in the eyes of God.

DeleteBrandon, Mohammad and I will be doing on discrimination. It is really the synonym of bullying. This topic interest me because it happens everyday and everywhere in our society. This is one reason why teens commit suicide and suicide is one of the top three major causes of death in teens. This is related to "The Chrysalids" because they are banishing and teasing human just because they don't look like "the true image of God". This really like discrimination in our world.

I like this topic because I know a lot of people who have been affected by this issue and it needs to stop. So by learning about this issue and educating other people will help stop bullying. I am reallly looking forward to making a video about my topic and spreading awareness.

ReplyDeleteI was sick this whole week so I don't really know what topic my group and I are doing , but one topic I would like to make a PSA on is ,discriminating people who seem or look different. I would enjoy doing this topic because its one of the main problems in the Chrysalides and because a lot of people in the world discriminate people just because they seem different to them. We see this in the Chrysalides when Joseph wants all the people who don't look normal to him either banished or executed.

DeleteThe topic I chose (as well as Max and Kevin) is discrimination. I was interested in this topic becaue in the world, there's a lot of discrimination. Also in the Chrysalids, it is easy to see where the certain points of discrimination is. Since there's a lot in the book, it'll be easier for us to find ideas and complete this project. We have already found some ideas but I'm sure we can find some more.

And in the real world discrimination is all over and it is a problem. We all have to learn to respect everyone for who they are .

Deletei chose bullying as a topic for my PSA. i think that everyone should know and understand that bullying is bad and its important to prevent it in any case. Bullying can be associated with discrimination, so i thought this topic would be good. Bullying and discrimination is found in the novel chrysalids because in their society they do not accept others for being who they are. they do not accept "different" people, which is wrong because everyone should be accepted no matter what.

In the novel The Chrysalides there is a lot of discrimination of people who don't look perfect or have a disability. The discrimination in the novel is similar to nowadays.

ReplyDeleteWe chose this type of topic because xenophobia is seen everywhere in the world. It's highly important to realize that xenophobia is a forme of racism.
We see this topic through out the whole book . There are different types of people in this world weather they are skinny,fat,ugly,pretty,unusual loocking or even missing parts of their body they are still human beings and they/we should all be treated the same way .
the topic that me and Sasha have chosen is xenophobia.The reason why we chose this topic is because xenophobia is seen and used everywhere in the world. This issue is a very big problem today and people need to know that this is very wrong. This is seen a lot in the novel because Joseph Strorm thinks that the perfect person is what one of this two books says about how people should look and is making the people of Waknuk believe that the people around them are all mutans and they caused the tribulation.
ReplyDeleteThe topic that my group has chosen is bullying. The reason why we chose this topic is because we find that it is happening way more in our society then in any other, because of technology. I have had many problems with bullying even to this day it happens to me and some of my closest friends. Another reason why we chose this subject is because we would like to explain to the people and mostly teens of this society how important it is to stop this. You can see bullying in the Chrysalids when Joseph is rebuilding the town of Waknuk and he is excluding the people that are a little different.

DeleteThe topic that we have chosen for our PSA is ostracism. We have chosen this topic because we think this is a big problem that has to stop. In the Chrysalids the people ostracize the "mutants" which are people with some special characteristics or abilities. In my opinion, that is not very nice to do because nobody is perfect and because someone has, for example, an extra toe it doesn't mean that you have to kill him or separate him from his family. I think, that is so unfair and should not happen anywhere in this world.

Deletewe are doing our project on xenophobia. the topic interests me because it is a big issue in the novel, joseph is afraid of the unknown and doesn't understand that its ok to be different. instead of excepting people for who they are he sends them away to the fringes all because he is afraid of the unknown and in his eyes they are not normal.

DeleteMy topic will be hacking. I chose this topic because I doubt that anyone else has thought of it so far and because it sounded interesting. There isn't a direct link between hacking and the Chrysalids. But my theory is that the telepathic group will get stronger over time and they will start being able to hack into electronic devices or peoples heads with their own. I think that my PSA assignment will be very interesting.

DeleteThe topic my team chose is discrimination. We decided to do this topic because discrimination is a terrible problem in our world. Every time you turn on the news there is a new story about some type of discrimination. In the Chrysalids discrimination happens throughout the novel. Discrimination can be racial, it can be based on religious beliefs, sexual orientation, it takes many different forms and affects millions of people.

ReplyDeleteMy group is doing bullying for the project. This topic interests me because it is something that we could get rid of, but we haven't yet. There is bullying in every single school, and all over the world. In the novel The Chrysalids , bullying is shown throughout. It is the normal people who bully the mutants. They call the mutants freaks, and think they are a sign sent from hell. I don't think this is right at all, however Joseph Strorm is forcing them to think this(aka fear mongoring).

I believe so because no matter where you go, people will always push away outsiders, because the way they speak or the way they look. Probably some other reasons too. I think the world should have a equal look upon everyone with no discrimination against the more poor citizens or the black citizen or even the white one. -Marcus

He is not right , this can no longer happen. This a not only a major problem in the book but in the world. Discrimination has to stop
