Blog 31 - Monday, January 30, 2017

This past weekend, president Donald Trump put together an executive order to VET (make a careful and critical examination of) Muslims, particularly from the following seven (7) countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.

Imagine being from one of those seven (7) countries and immediately told that you will NOT be able to return home for a minimum of 90 days, with a possibility of NEVER getting back in to your home?

How would this make you feel?
Is VETTING the right way to get rid of terrorism?
Is the president simply HATING one particular religion?

Explain.

  1. If I was kicked out of my home and was told that I would probably never be allowed back , I would be destroyed and heartbroken . I would hate having to be kicked out for my religion and I would be angry . So angry , that I'd probably yell non stop and complain always . And I truly believe strongly that vetting is a terrible way of getting rid of terrorism because for one it's the wrong way to solve a problem and also it is a terrible way to treat people that most probably didn't do anything wrong at all. I also truly believe that the new president Donald Trump is hating on one particular religion, Muslims . And why ? Because he thinks their ALL terrorist and I believe that its wrong , all the way . He is terrible , his mind is set on goals that we do not want to be achieve . And I truly think he was the wrong man to be president . He wants his country to be run like it was in the early 1900's . And we shouldn't be going back in time , we should be moving forward and trying to achieve new , good goals . And I think vetting most people that didn't do anything wrong is not the way to solve problems and never will be .

  2. I agree , I would be "pissed" off as well . Vetting is one of the worst ways to handle terrorism .

  3. I'd be pretty mad at first but i'd eventually realize that there's nothing that I can do to stop this, but i'd still forever hate him. Getting rid of certain people of a certain race isn't the best way to try and get rid of racism, there plenty of other ways that would probably cost more and take more time, and knowing Donald Trump and most people that have money, he obviously wants to try and get rid of the problem as fast as possible and as cheaply as possible even if it really isn't effective. I'd say that he might be targeting a certain religion, I think he is just taking the religions that are "the most used one's for blame of terrorists" and just going with it even though they might not be the one's to blame, hes also maybe trying to make himself look better to the people so that they might look at him in more positive way.

  4. First I just want say that trump has an idea to eliminate terrorism which is a good thing but to do it this way is not the right way at at all. If that happen to me I would be upset because not allowing someone back to their home for doing nothing wrong is stupid. Vetting is not the right way to get rid of terrorism in my opinion. Trump is hating on the Muslims because most people think if your Muslim you can be a terrorist. Trump should solve the gun problem in the u.s before doing this.

  5. If this happened to me, I would be so angry and so sad. I would be sad because I left my home to go see family or get a job in the United States. And now they're telling me I can't go in nor go back to my home. I would be angry because I find this is such a stupid rule. Instead of banning the countries that killed United State citizens, they're banning 7 countries that haven't even killed one. Personally I think vetting is a good way to get rid of terrorism. But in a good way. Instead of vetting on these countries, they can vet on the other countries that have actually killed United State citizens. Because there's proof that they've done stuff but there's absolutely no proof that these 7 counties have done something. I think Trump has a dislike of a certain religion. He is worried that this certain religion will pull another act like 9/11 or worse. Or maybe shootings, etc. Trump does not want that to happen. And really the only way of doing this is by vetting and holding them at borders, etc. WE all know not everyone's intentions from that particular religion is to do something like that. But I feel Trump is making sure that that doesn't happen again to his country.

    1. I agree. The seven countries were from Barack Obamas list of countries that are the most dangerous to Americans right now, stop blaming Trump people!

  6. I don't really know how I would feel because its never happened to me. But if I was put in those people shoes that want to immigrate to Canada I would be enraged, scared and suicidal. I'm pretty sure most immigrants dream is to come to Canada or the US with powerful army good food and a shelter to live under. It must be very hard to have no hope for 30 days. Anyway to conclude this it is a very heart touching subject talking families not getting the freedom they want for themselves and there children.

  7. This leaves me very confused, i don't understand why this is happening in America. The united states have come so far and now that they have donald trump for only one week bands have already been put in place. I dont think Vetting is the way that they will end terrorism, we need to learn to work together and not push people away because it will only get those countries even more mad. the president isnt only hating on one religion but also creating bands for his advantage in business.

  8. I would be slightly okay with it. Personally I would not want to be in the United States as long as Trump is president although I am sure I would still slightly be offended that someone that is so lucky to be president is against my religion and I'm sure most people would be. I do think that the president is hating this religion but he is also hating most religions.

  9. if this happened to me i would be very sad and offended. Because i would never want to be kicked out of my home for just being part of a religion or having a passport to one of those countries. What is going in the USA is horrible and this is definitely not the way to solve issues.

  10. I would be angry and sad about this. I don't understand this. I think that the vetting will end terrorism. We have to stand together and take actions this is not the way to do it. I think the president is hating on this religion only I think he's hating on multiple religions.

  11. If I was not able to return home I would be depressed and super mad. Vetting is definitely not the right way to get rid of terrorism at all, it’s not fair one bit and it’s a very stupid idea. It’s not fair to just accuse every Muslim for being terrorists and banning them from their homes, it’s a horrible thing to do. Donald Trump IS definitely hating one particular religion he is a racist and cruel man, how does he think this is a good way to take care of terrorism. I don’t know why he is even the president, he is just making things worse.

  13. Home is the one place where you can always feel comfortable and be yourself. The one place where you can just let go and lay back after a long and rough day. The one place where you and your family can share eachothers love for one another. People always say it's the family who makes the home but in reality the home is what makes the family. If I were to ever leave my home and know that I probably won't ever be back ever or even for a while i'de be not only extremely sad but furious. I can't imagine waking up one day and knowing that I won't be able to go back home to see my friends who don't have the same religion as me and I wouldn't be able to go back to the home that I grew up in and the home where my family and I made amazing memories.
Trump is exaggerating and he's being extremely racist and I don't agree with what he's doing. There might be different religions and cultures in this world but if people like Donald Trump didn't exist then this world would honestly be perfect. We wouldn't have wars and we wouldn't have people thinking that they are higher class and better then us. It isn't fair and it's racism !

  14. I do not think that VETTING is the right thing to do to get rid of terrorism. I believe that Trump is racist and he is foreshore hating on one religion in particular. If i was from one of these religions i would be disappointed that he is our leader and the fact that he is a racist. It would make me VERY angry and partially scared for any political decisions made against us.

  16. If I wasn't allowed to go home and see my own family just because of my religion I would be furious and really sad. Donald Trump in my opinion is a horrible man and shouldn't be the president of the united states. He thinks that by banning people from these seven countries, it will stop terrorist attacks from happening in America. Not every Muslim is a terrorist and its not only Muslims who are terrorists. Vetting is the wrong way to prevent racism. I think that Donald Trump is just hating on one particular religion and its the Muslim religion.

  17. I think this is dreadful, not being able to either return to your home back with your family or even just visiting family is terrible it would make me feel judged from being a religion different from Trump.Vetting is a poor way of getting rid of terrorism in my opinion, especially from an extremely racist orange potato that we call the president of the United States. He is not only hating on muslims he is hating on blacks and many others, not every muslim is a terrorist.Donald trump should really read the expression of "don't judge a book by its cover" he is totally doing the opposite

  18. This is a hard question to answer. On the one hand I see what Donald is trying to do, he wants to protect Americans and keep them safe. If you watch CNN and certain news outlets you don't get an unbias view of what is happening.I saw the head od homeland security give a speech that made alot more sense and he explained it very differently than the chaos we saw over the weekend. It is not really a Muslim ban because there are like a billion muslims from forty other countries that are not affected by this. I think people need to take a moment to listen to both sides and understand where each is coming from. Calling people racists and bigots won't solve anything. Obviously If I was going to be kept from my family and my country I would feel terrible but that is not what the case is. I really think people need to listen more and stop jumping on news stories that are aimed to stir up fear and confusion. Facts are important.

  19. I Feel that i would be angry and upset but at the same time Trump is trying to protect America but i do not think he is doing it the wrong way by letting innocent people not aloud back into there homes. I do feel that Trump is hating against religions but at the same thime the countries he is not banding that would be banded are not because of his rules and also some of those countries share and transport things for him, so i do not know if he is doing the right thing.

  20. i would be quite sad and upset because its completely not fair because not everyone is a terrorist. I think that they shouldn't do this and just be more precise with better security and everything. its not fair it all for the others. I really do believe that trump is just hating on these religions just because he doesn't like them, and you can tell because he's never liked them. and that is not right.

  21. First off I am concerned about some family that lives in the us they are inside right now but are worried they are going to be deported. And if they are they are going have to leave everything behind. And vetting is the stupidest idea I ever heard. Sending a group of people/race out of the country is stupid because anyone can be a terrorist you just have to extreme things like shoot people. The worst part about it is the people he veted were people that did not even kill us citizens and the races that did are not on the list of countries because trump puts economy in front of tiresome i mean for example saudi arabia is not on the list but saudi arabians have killed americans but trump has business with saudi arabia so he did not vet them. I can talk about this longer because it means a lot to me but this blog is getting too long so that is that.

  24. If this ever happened to me, I would be devastated. You lose everything. The majority of the people being banned, haven't even done anything wrong. They have most likely moved here to have a better life, and now, it's all getting thrown away. I definitely do not think this is the right thing to do. Okay maybe there have been multiple terrorist attacks from a religion, but that still doesn't mean they are all guilty. I think the decision is based off of stereotypes and racism, which is pretty sad.

  25. This would make me feel disgusted and unwanted in my own country , i would loose my love for the USA and our president. I don't think Vetting is the proper way of getting rid of terrorism since its not only these countries who cause death to the us citizens so why just band those? Yes i do think Trump is hating on specifically Muslims and is racist against them and thinks they shouldn't live freely in the US . He also thinks all Muslims are the same and will blow up buildings and cause harm but that is not true at all.

  26. I think vetting is not the right way to get rid of terrorism.I think Trump should just add more security at doors or something. This makes me feel sad because it hasn't been long since trump has been president and the world is already falling apart.Of course Trump is hating just one particular religion.

  27. I wouldn't be that mad because I know that if I had a green card, I would be able to to go back in. Donald trump isn't kicking them out forever especially if they have a green card. I feel like vetting is the right way to do it because there are so many terrorist attacks from those EXACT countries. He is not hating on any religion, he is simply trying to end terrorism in the US once and for all. He has some good ideas.

  28. If I was kicked out of my house and told I was never going to be aloud to come back would be devastating. So many memories broken. I can't imagine what people are going through. When Donald trump signed the paper he was care free he didn't even hesitate to sign it . This is just the start of Donald trump

  29. I believe that what Donald has done is a horrible thing, he is not hating on a Religion he is simply doing what his voters want him to do. Everything he does is so he can make more money. I don't agree with the Muslim culture all that much but I don't believe Muslims from these 7 countries deserve this type of treatment, I know this is quite a strong word to be using but I honestly hate the United States of America.
