Quebec Education is implementing a MANDATORY sexual education course starting at kindergarten!

Should sexual education be an important part of the curriculum?

    i think its a great idea that kids are starting to learn about a sex ed early. i had no idea what sex was until i was in grade 7 we had one class in grade six but that was it we never went into detail about anything. people might think that they are too young but they are never too young. its better than lying to your kids about where babies come from. its so important that kids understand what is happening with their body. sexual education is so important because almost all of us end up having sex one so why not start learning about it early.

      I disagree , their should be a certain age when one can learn about sex and it shouldn't be at the age of 5. They're just too young !

      I strongly disagree. This kids are FIVE years old! They need to learn the more important thing then how to have sex. They still have 13 or more years before they actual start having sex.

    I believe that kindergartens should not be teach sex-ed . They are way to young and shouldn't know "that" knowledge at such a young age . Whenever I told my little sister to not do something at the age of 5 , she would still do it and not listen to me . So what should one expect when you teach a class of five years old sex-ed . They will do exactly what you told them not to do. Sexual education is , with most certainly an important course , but should only be teach in high school. Kids definitely mature when starting high school and would most likely listen to the sex-ed teacher and take his advice . Imagine teaching kids that are only just four feet tall the importance of having protected sex or giving them knowledge on their sexual parts , it would be a complete and utterly disaster !

    i think that its important to learn about sex-ed, but not to teach kindergartens. I think its inappropriate at that time because they do not need this information right now. It is not helpful for them and they won't need any advice any time soon. They would get inappropriate if anything, so i don't think its necessary to teach kindergartens sex ed, but i do think its important to teach older about it because they might need this information, if their parents don't talk to them about it.

    i think its important to learn about it but not at such a young age. the children will not be remembering a word you see to them about this talk. they are still to young to learn all about this. this sex ed courses should be taught a little in grade five and then through out the years.i don't think its necessary to teach these kids about sex ed when they are just starting to spell there names correctly.

    Yes it's important to learn about it but only when kids are in high school or maybe grade 6. I mean I guess it's good for the kindergarten kids to know the main differences of their bodies but not learn about sex. So in some way it's important to have some sort of sex ed but only the very basics, another thing would be that some parents might not want their kid to learn about any of it just yet and want to tell them later on. An alternative to this would be a recommended age that parents should tell their kids.

    Honestly,i agree and disagree.Yes its good for kids to learn about their bodies and how they are going to develop,and how the boys and girls are different from each other.But also no because kindergarten is tooo early for them to learn about sex and shit like really i would want my 4 year old cousin to come up to me and say i learned about how my privates work now.Like really ill laugh but still these kids shouldn't be taught sex at that early of on age.The great age group to start this with would be like 10-11 year olds because they are older and a bit mature.

    I think that sex-ed should be taught at 5 but no the way they do now. I strongly disagree with 5 year old kids learning about how babies are made but I do agree with them teaching the body parts and there function. In my opinion they should start talking about the function of body parts at 5-7, start talking about how babies are made from 8-10 and talk about the rest from 11-rest of your life etc.

    I believe that young kids should not learn sex, especially not in kindergarten. That is too young for kids to learn how to mate. They should be learning math and french, not about how to have sex and knowing the sexual parts. This sexual program is just encouraging kids to look at porn websites. Plus, it's not helping them in anything educated. To me, I think this sexual topic should be kept in high school and higher, where more mature kids can take the sex thing more serious. Sex is not even important, it's just something extra for kids to become more mature.

    Honestly, I believe that young kids should not learn sex. Including starting in kindergarten. This is going to far and I feel that kids should learn it once in grade 6. When they're older and more mature. I think it is an important part of the curriculum because teens or young teens have to know what cam happen when having sex etc. I don't believe though that they should be learning about it that early. This is a very important subject that should be kept when kids are more mature.

    Personally i think kids at that age are way too young they dont even know about those things yet and if you teach it to them they will become so curious about it because at that age every kid is so curious. I know some people arent too educated on sex ed but i think it should only be taught once you get to highschool and it should then be mandatory at that age not when you are in kindergarten

    i don't think it's a bad idea to start teaching sex ed to elementary school kids but i do think it is too young to start at kindergarten, i don't feel the kids would get it i think it's a waste of time, to try to teach the kids and they wouldn't understand and then you would have tot teach the same thing over again

    Everyone on this planet should know about sexual intercourse and puberty and anything that has to do with our body and what can affect us. I personally don't think that learning about these things in kindergarten is a good idea. Not only because the kids won't understand as much as they would if they were tought in an older grade or at an older age but they will be scard.
    They won't understand the purpose of this topic because they are to immature.
    Half the time they might not even be able to understand. They should understand that kids in kindergarten have their whole entire life to grow up and worry about these things and not when they are 5-6 years old.
    This subject is way to important to learn about in kindergarten.
    They should stick with the older grades and hopefully more mature people and not with innocent little kids.

    I think kids shouldn't learn about sex until at least grade 5. Kids shouldn't know that things and they should enjoy their childhood. If they start teaching kids sex ed since kindergarten, i think they would want to know more and they would start to have sex earlier. But when they start to be older i think its a good idea to teach them to be careful and protective to avoid pregnancies.

    I think that in all grades there should be a certain amount of knowledge to the subject but to a certain extent. For example, I think that in kindergarten the furthest you should get into the human anatomy is that boys and girls have different parts and that doing certain things is inappropriate. But there will always come an age where you will need to know everything about the subject for many reasons: because girls may need to protect themselves from men that do not understand the severity, because teenagers will do inappropriate things and they should know the ways to prevent certain things from happening and from making mistakes that could impact their lives.

    I think it is a bit stupid to be learning about that stuff so early since these kids probably dont know what any of that stuff and what it means and it would be a waste to teach something that kids wont understand.you should only start to teach kids about sex when they start becoming sexually active or getting close to being sexually active. I do think kids should learn about the male and female anatomy because its good to learn about your body and the different parts. But puberty is something you should teach earlier since kids can go through it at a younger age.

    I do think it may be important for kids to learn about sex ed but only when their a bit older. For example i do not think that when you are 6 or 7 years old you are going to be having sex. Maybe when your older, as a teenager but not when your still a very young kid. Plus at that age you won't unfderstand a think they would be talking about. I think it should start being taught at ages between 11,12 and 13.

    I think sex ed. is important but only when kids are old enough to understand it. I was taught sex ed. in grade five at my elementary school and nobody really took it seriously and made a lot of jokes about it. I think high school kids are a bit more mature and have alot of questions that they may be too embarassed to ask their parents about.

    Sexual education should be apart of the curriculum but it should only be thought at grade 5. If you decide to teach sex in kindergarten all the kids will just laugh and there not mature to understand this type of stuff yet. I think it's important to teach this stuff because it can come useful later on in life. You can always teach puberty in kindergarten even if it might be early but not sex.

    I think sex ed is really an important course and should be taught but only at a reasonable age like in grade 5-6 because if the kids are too young they wont learn a thing or they'll just make jokes about it.I dont think it's necessary for kindergarten kids to learn about the male and female parts.

    I think it's important because it is important for little kids not be scared to talk about it. So if you teach them when they are young it's good because they will laugh the first time but later on in grade 5-6 then won't laugh because they already know it. I think they should build it up from puberty and later in the older grades then they should teach sex ed.

    I think that sexual education shouldn’t be taught to kids in kindergarten because there too young to understand. I do think it should be taught a bit earlier than 8th grade for safety but I believe around 5th grade is good, not kindergarten. At their age I don’t think it’s necessary because they won’t understand and it will not stick in their heads, and at that age they probably don’t even think about it. I think that there robing a child of their innocence, awareness is one thing but you have all your life to mature and when you are older you actually know what everything is.

    I personally think sexual education should be taught to kids but definitely not kindergarten students. They should not be learning about those stuff at such a young age they are so young and have so many years ahead of them to learn about sex. It should definitely be tsughyer around grade 5 or 6 and in high school of course but I strongly disagree on teaching young children that. They should be focusing on learning the basics like numbers, how to spell correctly, letters etc.

    I don't think that sex ed should be taught to kindergarten students. First of all these kids are five or six year old and second of all they are too young to know about this type of stuff. I think that sex ed should be at least taught in grade 5 because that when the teachers started teaching it to me in elementary. Little kids aren't going to take this very seriously and gonna treat this like a joke. Kids at that age aren't old enough to first of all learn about this stuff and second of all understand the concept.

    I think sex ed is important to teach, however maybe not to kids a a very young age. Little kids won really understand this kind of thing so it needs to be taught when you are a bit more mature. but I definitely think that it should be taught at some point throughout high school or maybe even grade 5 or 6.

    It's great that sex Ed is an actual topic that kids are learning in schools all across the world, yet it just doesn't seem right that they are learning it at such a young age. There is a certain series of ages where if you learn sex Ed at said age, you won't be mature enough to handle it. Who expects kids at 5 years old to understand what it means when two people "get along" really well.

    Teaching kids about sex in kindergarten is the most dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life. You think little kids are going to understand what your talking to them about. At that age it's not important. You have to be mature to learn about it.
