I am asking for some input as to what changes should be made to the St. Thomas library.
Aside from some painting and new furniture, WHAT 21ST CENTURY additions should be made to promote: COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION, CRITICAL THINKING and CREATIVITY.
Explain your thoughts!
i think our library needs some pops of colour its so bland and boring when you walk in. i would paint art all over the walls and write inspirational quotes. i would put large fun bright lights all over. in the corner i would put bean bag chairs for kids to sit down and read together and be comfy. i would put a tablet on a table were students could look up books that they are searching for. if we do all this i think the library will be more modern and appealing to the eye.

DeleteWhat I believe the new and improve library needs is a room where teachers can have meetings without needing to ban the students from entering the library during that time . Maybe we can get soundless glass and curtains to cover the room up so the staff doesn't have to stress about the students overhearing anything. Most of the times , when I head to the library to get tutored it's closed for the day because their is a staff meeting after school and I need to go the cafeteria . The cafeteria is very loud and hard to concentrate in without being distracted so I think the staff need their own quiet room in the library where they don't need to close it down for a day .
ReplyDeleteSome more computers to replace the laptops and just more computers in general because when it's really crowded the computers get taken up very quickly. Another thing would be to have it's own separate wifi so that it's faster and increase the size of the room because there isn't all that much space in the library and just like the computers, the tables get filled up quickly. Another thing that would be nice would be a couple of flat screen tv's that would work just like the one's in the front of the school when you walk in.

DeleteI think that they should make the library a lot less boring for students. I feel they should do a re-model and paint it a more vibrant color. I find the computers are fast and reliable but I feel that they should add more because they tend to get filled up quick. Especially at lunch. Also I feel that they should make the library itself bigger. In the winter, almost everyday the library is full. It's so frustrating when you get there, and see the paper on the door saying "library is full." I also think that each table should have tablets so if the computers get filled up, you can do your work there with friends or something. And one last thing. I think the school should put more quiet rooms so people can either study without all the noise bothering them or if needing to do a project with friends to have the room to yourselves without getting distracted. Also, if possible, add a computer in to research for projects or homework.

DeleteI think we should have more computers more space for people to study like moire quiet rooms. It gets really crowed when we are in the library we should have more space and we should have a better wifi so it can increase the speeds for the students to finish earlier so we don't have to do homework until the bell. We should have all these books on every subject and when we want to sign out or sign in a book we should have a machine we just put it under and it scans it.

DeleteI think we should get more computers because there's a lot of people that use them at lunch when I go to do my homework or project.We should get more room also because usually there's no room to do anything sometimes when I go to my tutor there's not even a table to work at.

I also think we should get better computers because most of the computers are slow and don't work. I also think we should get more computers since every lunch i can't take my time to eat since if i want to go to the library at lunch i have to rush so i can get a computer. I also think we should add a room where if you want to go read quietly and only to read books you can.

DeleteI personally think that changing the computers for better ones would be a good idea because in my opinion they are alright but they are pretty slow. We should probably get a few more also. Also make more quit rooms because personally sometimes the library can get very noisy and disruptive. Overall try to make it look more mordene.
ReplyDeleteI think in general they should make the library bigger because there needs to be more space for more people and maybe even add a couple more computers. However they should also have a download book system like were you could go on a computer and download a book on to any of your devices to read and not worry about losing or forgetting. It would be much faster to look for and easier to return because after you download it you read it for the period of time you have to borrow it and then it disappears when it is overdue.

DeleteThe library is my favorite place to hang out and meet up. Some good changes is making the library bigger. It's really small for a library and has really no space to add future installment like computers, study rooms, bean bags circle, etc. If we don't have this fix, we can't have further installations that everyone wants. After this is fix, we sure add more computers. Many of the students in the school wants more computers because it's always full. You have to finish your lunch quickly and rush to library to get a good spot. It's annoying to many people. Along with the computers, the library should be paint in colorful colors. The present library just looks plain.

DeleteI would make it bigger, more comfortable seats, maybe a special section with cozy chairs to relax on. The computers need to be updated and more need to be added. I think people like to listen to music in the library but it would disturb other people so head phones would be a great idea. to be honest I really don't use the library much.

ReplyDeleteif you want kids to hang out in the library more often than i would say get more comfortable chairs and maybe get books that are actually interesting that we would read. i would definitely make the room bigger and add more computers because its always crowded and everyone in it. i would also add 2 more sound proof rooms so that kids can go in it. i would also replace some computers with i pads or phones . but other than that i dont go to the library.

DeleteEvery time I go to the library I get kicked out cause I don't have any books so I think they should just get rid of every single book besides one shelf. Who takes out books nowadays everything is on the internet. I think the library should be a place to kill time with some computers and desk to talk and if you want to work go in the quiet rooms, we should add 2 more quiet rooms. The school should spend more time on giving the students more open gym not worrying a library.

ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know, I would suggest adding more comfy seats and that is it. Maybe having some of those modern art metal statues you see around city. Really I like the library as it is and I'm sure I'm going to like anything you or the school does with it, for I am a simple library dweller.
ReplyDeleteI think they should just upgrade the technlology in the library. The computers here are very old and the router isnt exactly strong either. The library should get a minor faceloft too. Just a small little beautification so this place doesnt look too bleak. They should implement some more cushioned chairs but thats just for comfort mostly
ReplyDeleteOur library is not that bad compared to other schools. We have a very good librarian who knows what she's doing and we have great computers and printers. There are some defaults that St.Thomas has ; for example the Wi-Fi at the school is sometimes very slow and causes the computers and the lap tops not to fonction as well as we want them to. We might need more computers in the library because we are a large amount of kids. Its also very bad that when we want to go to the library and work there with out class or without its either closed or over packed. We either need to have a bigger library or have a better time management. The printers are also used a lot and there might be damages so we might want to get a few others in the library. The one great thing about the library is that there is air conditioning in the summer.

I think the library at st thomas looks very old and it has to be fixed. First off we need to make it look nicer so we should buy new book shelves and buy more computers and better couches that are actually comfortable and new tables. If all this is done we will have a better library.
